Thx for the critique video. Actually, I haven't finished reading the whole fun with pencil coz I am stuck at the exaggerated pose page, haven't a hard time understanding why the exaggerated pose looks so much more fun. So far, I like the most for the easy-following guide on creating characters by attaching different blobs on the face. I copied some of the drawings then tried to create my own. @Stan Prokopenko You mentioned a few times on difference between intuitive people and logical people in drawing. As a logical person, i am too afraid to break rules, do you have any exercise to mitigate the anxiety? Or the question is a bit too early to think about as a beginner?

Pedro gave you a great answer! I agree that drawing from reference, copying, and master studies are extremely valuable. I focused about 95% of my efforts on that as a student. If I could redo it, I would balance it more with drawing from imagination.. maybe 70% reference and 30% imagination to start, and slowly increasing to 50/50 as I got more advanced. Learning fundamentals like construction and gesture will help you draw from imagination better. Stylization often breaks the rules, but the most effective way to do this comes from first really understanding the rules and then choosing which ones to break for the best effect. Your logical mind will help you learn and master these rules which will give you the control to do this intentionally. Incorporating drawing from imagination will help you learn to do this intuitively. Keep up the great work!

Only halfway through the course?!! Holy cow. This continues to be the best value for one's art educational dollar. I find myself recommending this course constantly. This is an exercise that's already a staple in my regimen, and it's incredibly useful. Whenever I get in the weeds or just intimidated by an assignment, I remind myself that any representational drawing comes down to objects occupying space. Once you get a feel for how simple forms (boxes and cylinders) occupy space you have the master key to unlocking any drawing problem. Excellent lesson in an already excellent course!

Stan, when you said that this is the half way point of the course, that made me very happy, that there is going to be that much more of it. It’s been so great, and so helpful, so far. This course has been such a great investment! There were so many helpful concepts, so far, that I never fully picked up or understood from other courses, and or art lessons. Things that make everything else, that teaches concepts for line drawing, easier to manage. In that way, this course also adds value to all those other courses, for me. I just wish I would have had this course earlier because it would have saved me so much grief, and struggle. I really appreciate the thought and detail that you put into your lessons, Stan. Art teachers often explain things in ambiguous ways that leave me uncertain. But it’s clear to me that you really take the time to figure out how to explain things in the clearest way possible, and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate it. I am feeling really excited about drawing, and my art goals are feeling more attainable. I can not speak highly enough about this course! It’s already a 10 out of 10 and it’s only half way through! I absolutely love this course! Thanks for helping fill in the gaps of my drawing knowledge. Sorry it won't seem to let me post without hitting Request Critique. LOL

"Under promise, over deliver" I did the same with my Anatomy course and people were very happy.

Watched the tutorial and wasn't quite sure if I understood this correctly. Want to know if I'm on the right path. Truth be told I've done these box people exercises a few times and drawing the blob is more unintuitive than jumping straight to the box for me. Did I misunderstand the tutorial? Am I entirely wrong? or is it more of a comfort thing? Sorry for the overlapping forms, I rushed this and miscalculated how much space I had.

Ya it doesn't look like you're following the same process I did in the video. Blob --> Oval --> edge. Either way, if it's easy for you to jump right in to a box, this might not be a thing you need.

What you said as an exersice to Martin drawing something else in form of boxes and reimagine the angle. I made that before with a cool picture and pose of the Hulk :) and made it from a different angle. I didnt post it though. It was fun!
