Here's my attempt at the level 1 assignment! I found it a little bit difficult to loosen up while tracing, but eventually got the hang of it - I can see how the warmups and previous exercises feed into loosening up even while doing something kind of rigid like tracing.

Having gone through a good chunk of drawabox, these weren't too hard! I challenged myself a little on the second Trace the Ruler page by not rotating the page and drawing the lines at whatever angle I'd laid down in ink first, which was pretty challenging for anything not slanting up and to the right as I usually draw these!

Here’s my attempt at the level 1 project! Definitely had some proportional weirdness on the second one, but the rest went okay I think.

Here’s my attempt at the level 1 project! Not quite sure if I’ve done a good job simplifying the boots, but I’ll go watch the critiques next and see how others did it.
Martha Muniz
Solid job! I think you did really well, especially with a subject as complex as the boots. Keep in mind that longer or more complex curves can still be broken down into simpler C or I lines further. Something like the top right curve of the snail's shell or the tips of the boots can be broken into shorter sections that make it easier to manage, while still keeping the drawing simple.

I gave this a second attempt after watching the critique video. I think it turned out better, though I could still use some practice on clean shading.

Did a little playing around, and a drawing from a photo with a couple pencil sets I've had for a while now!

The bee is super cool!

I've been practicing the Bean lesson for a while now, these are from a practice session today. I feel like it's been going pretty well, but I've been learning on my own for a while now and probably have some blind spots, so any feedback would be really helpful!

Hi! These look great, looks like you have a good understanding of it. I still have 2 minor critiques for you. First is what Robin pointed out, to me the centre line doesn't look quite right because it doesn't follow the form it's drawn on. It seems like you understand the movement of the pose but you still need to work on your primitive shapes like spheres and cylinders. A good contour line across the form will help you indicate the motion clearer. Another thing I feel you could improve upon are the twisting poses. In some of them the twist is not apparent. Twisting poses are a bit challenging but if you use line to indicate overlapping correctly I am sure you will notice the difference. Keep up the great work!

It looks like you have a good understanding of manipulating the bean shape to show the pose. One thing I noticed on a few are the curvature of the center lines. When the center line is in the middle of the form it stays fairly straight, when it moves toward the edge it curves more. On some of your beans the placement and curvature aren't always consistent. Your line quality looks nice, what size paper are you using and about how big are you drawing each example?
