It is incredible how untrained eyes distort proportions 🙈 V1 and V2 so far, waiting for a bigger paper to draw from scratch v3. Which part of your drawings was the most difficult for you guys ?

And another attempt, this time eyeballing with some improvements - mostly the placement of the eyes and nose - after layering on the reference.

I mismatched the eyes, apart from that I am quite pleased with the overall result

The task was awesome, I really enjoyed it. However I am super curious about the critique video and what I should improve.

Working on this was super fun! I have been a fan of Terry Pratchett for years. Now I can tell the same about Paul Kidby the artist behind the illustrations in the Discworld books.

My attempt on Jeff's work

This was probably the scariest and most fun assignment so far. I went with soemthing from my favourite artist's, Todd Lockwood's sketch book. It was fun figuring out the hierarchy of importance and how he uses the lines, some fast some deliberate - haven't noticed it before!

Study of Antonio Stappaerts (@artwodguy) My first masters study, as I don't know the artists work so I browsed the internet and found this as a template, I like simple drawings and preferably ink drawings

First two were drawn based on the sample, the other from my memory - the head is too small :/ . In overall it was a cool assignment, I wouldn't imagine how much can be achieved with such a basic approach. What do you think guys ?

That was fun. Probably I should work more on precision and spend some more time on these

After watching demo

@ecorax
Gave the boots a try before watching the demo. In hindsight, I feel like I could have simplified more; it probably wasn't necessary to have every shoelace. I found it difficult to control line weight without resorting to chicken scratching; I could lay in the initial line well enough, but trying to make it darker later was difficult without resorting to shorter, tentative strokes. Any tips?

Damn, I love these shoes. The picture is super expresive. Man seriously, it's awesome.

That was a challenging and fun. I added too many cross contour lines on the snail, and my shoelaces are mess. I will give another try after watching the demo. Level 2 i am coming. What do you think guys ? Any tips ?

The boots were pretty tough. The laces and bends in the boot last made proportions hard to delineate. This took an appreciable amount of time to finish. I’m enjoying this though. Just focusing on the lines is keeping me honest

Revised

Finally making time to go through this course. I am gonna do both the beginner and level 2 projects to practice; I wanted to do the level 1 images traditionally but can't get a comfortable trad drawing setup right now, so these are all digital. I tried doing an initial attempt at both projects on my own, then watched Proko's demos and did a revised version. I tried to include some indicators of my progress as well. The method Proko used for the level 2 one is def not something I am used to doing.

My friend and I have started this course together. We come from two different art backgrounds. I have had a good amount of experience with art, but lack the physical and mental skills of the basics as I was never formally taught them. On the other hand, my friend has drawn here and there, but has never known where to start to really start learning. The left pear is mine and the right pear is my friend's. To not have to refer to his pear as "your friend's pear" you can call him Bob. We are both just looking for critique. Do not mind the mushroom that was transferred over onto my pear, that's not part of the drawing.

Based on the demo I can tell that Bob should work on values. Right now the picture looks rather flat because of that. On the other hand the picture on left is awesome imho, but I am new with art.
