LESSON NOTES

What's in Premium?

After finishing our thumbnails and research, we are ready to tackle the final piece. In this full lesson, I walk you through my entire process, starting with a rough silhouette to establish the layout before diving into the details. I explain how to use negative space and diagonals to create a dynamic composition that directs the viewer's eye to the focal points.

You will learn how to balance "truthful elements" like correct anatomy with fantasy concepts to make the scene believable. I also demonstrate how to problem-solve composition issues in real-time, like using dust effects to separate the foreground from the background and grouping characters to avoid clutter. Watch how I refine the horse's expression and the monkeys' poses to tell a chaotic story while keeping the drawing loose and energetic.

Using diagonals is the best way to create a sense of chaos in a dynamic scene. Block out your main characters loosely before adding truthful elements like correct anatomy. This helps you balance the fantasy of the costumes with the reality of the function so the viewer believes the madness without getting confused.
