A bit hard to follow along or attempt to draw it before, to see if you made any mistakes that teacher did not, and how did he approach the drawing.
LESSON NOTES

What's in Premium?

I take you to the San Diego Zoo to draw a Malaysian bush cricket. I show you how to simplify complex bugs by placing them inside a perspective box. You will learn how to analyze unfamiliar shapes and build the insect's volume from the ground up. I demonstrate how to use contour lines and shade the bottom planes to give the bug a solid 3D feel. We also cover how to use a brush pen to adjust line weight. Making the foreground lines thicker adds instant depth to your sketch. Finally, I explain how to anchor your subject to the ground using cast shadows. These analytical sketches are a great way to understand new subjects before drawing them in dynamic poses.
