I wanted to ask - for the realistic heads you were doing in highschool, what size page was that?
I can copy faces very well from photos but I STRUGGLE with any head smaller than a full A4 size page. Is it useful to draw heads at small sizes? I've seen some artists recommend drawing heads at A6 size to improve.

Hey Jade :) Those are suuuuuper tiny. Around 3 inches tall per portrait. I was drawing them with a mechanical pencil. Not sure if I would recommend drawing them that tiny. I would agree with the general advice that drawing big is usually better. You get looser line quality, and the mistakes are better hidden.

In the spirit of the video, I thought this would be a great place to showcase the humble beginnings of our art (with the hopeful aspiration of improving). Here's my first digital painting ever, followed by a really cringe portrait of Denethor I did in 2024 (the tomato guy from lord of the rings). Cheers!

I don't think that portrait is cringy at all, I think you nailed the likeness, and the perspective is almost all there. Looking forward to your work through the course!
