Hey all i posted the work in progress earlier. Ive taken some notes and tried to applied them. I’m currently happy with the foreground but finding it hard to place and design assets for the background. The right background is particularly hard. Let me know if you have any ideas for assets.

Nice concept here! The image on the left may be crowded, but it has the best feel. I think the girl should come down a bit and over to the right a smidge (thinking about the rule of thirds here, but you don’t have to nail it exactly). She’s too high up to give the frame the peaceful feel I think you’re going for and with a little breathing room on top it’ll look really nice. The bunny on her right can still stare up adoringly to guide the viewer, but get shifted to the left. Your flow is really good, the eye getting returned over and over to the focus of the picture. Well done!

Beautiful! The character in this is very cute. For this one, assuming the girl's face is the focal point of the piece in a "spiral" type composition, why not try using whatever you place in the top right to guide the viewer's eye to the bird, while allowing it to be less busy than the left side to give the viewer's eye some rest? In the first picture, you have a really good "path" from the bird on the right, to the grass, to the dragonfly wings, to the bunny on the bottom left, to the flowers on the left, to the butterflies, and then back to the girl's face. Perhaps try something like small spinning flowers, petals, or grasses curving from the background behind the girl's head to the bird. You might consider using color for this in the later stages, too--a streak of harmonious tones that supports the flow, maybe? I hope you post the finished piece!

I love where you're going with this! The bird and dragonfly are beautiful, and the dragonfly gives a wonderful sense of perspective to the scene. Can't wait to see your progress! What's the next step? What medium are you using/ planning on using by the way?

Thanks Smithies, once i finish up the background i will do a quick colour mock up then grid it out and transfer it onto canvas. It’s gonna be a acrylic piece 50cm x 50cm for a local art competition.

Oh I live it! Can't wait to see it colored :D I would actually fill the whole background with flowers/animals and let them cover the sky. I assume you left the free space for readability of the girl and bird? I think the charm of such a compositon is that the girl would melt into the nature and that we have to look twice to read the image. It would still look like an intentional and well done composition. But that is also up to your preference.

Hey Sonja, the plan is to fill out the background with flowers or something but just having difficulty avoiding tangents and designing something for the space. I tried hiding the other layers and just drawing the assets individually and see how they look. Here are some of them so far. Which ones do you like?
