Comic face sketches

Wanted to practice some comic esque faces. Overall I think I did pretty good for not doing this type of style in a bit, but still have a hard time drawing lips and having the head facing foward

I really like the characters you draw. Each character has a unique identity. It looks so vivid and real - https://krunkerio.io

William, very nice. If you're looking to increase the solidity of the forms sometimes it helps to consider the light and shadow directions in the line weights. But really, some sharp drawings here :-)

I really like the bottom face, just because I could see it standing up in a comic book panel (the other are also good, but I feel the line work isn't as controlled as the bottom one) You said you needed help with the lip work?Well alongside what Liandro told you,I also recommend copying the section of lips in John Vanderpoel book.Speficically the sketch part, where he doesn't shade it.I would also advice to draw other artist with lips you like. Then going to photo or life to repeat this process. P.s. I don't have any advice for forward head, the only thing I could think of is that you don't make the side of the chin symetrical

Hey @William P, this is pretty cool! This “semi-realistic” style of cartooning is strongly based on the construction of the realistic head, so, if you’re having trouble drawing lips, you might wanna check How to Draw Lips – Anatomy and Structure for some general tips on the basic structure - then, you can adapt, exaggerate or stylize based off the average proportions. Also, you might wanna consider exactly what is giving you a hard time having the head face forward - is it the construction, perhaps the alignment or proportion of the features? Maybe it’s general perspective, or it might be something else? Depending on what it is, there might be suggestions of different materials to study from, so feel free to elaborate and let us know if you’d like. As a general recommendation, I’d say How to Draw the Head from Any Angle and How to Draw the Head – Front View might already be helpful. Keep up the good work!

There's a unique character and charm to each drawing captured in just the right amount of detail, and that's always something to be admired--great work!
