2023/12/12. Dear @Stephen Bauman, thank you so much for your beautiful course. Below are the images of the paintings I created following your lessons (the third is only in the three-color version). As you can see there are many inaccuracies in the proportions and anatomy of the faces and the various elements (with time and practice I'm sure I will become more precise). I used the same color palette as yours but the result is very reddish. Handling such intense colors like Alizarin Crimson, Vermillion and Aureolin is still very difficult for me but I hope to do better in the next paintings. I still have difficulty with the edges of the eyebrows, lips and the shading of the nose. However, I had a lot of fun painting these three ladies and learned a lot. Two years ago when I started painting I didn't even know what a canvas was. Thank you so much for your very important teachings. I can't wait to follow you in your new courses. Thanks again and merry Christmas!!

PROGRESS! Really cool to see all of this work, Marco. Finding a red that suits you palette would definitely improve the balance of color in your paintings. If I'm honest, I think that these reds skew my palette red as well.

I don't have the confidence to sketch a block-in without obsessive measurements. My goal is to discard the ruler and confidently use more mass than line in my drawings

2023/6/27. Good evening everybody, good evening @Stephen Bauman. Here's my grisaille painting. Well... I did my best for my current level. I hope I can move on to the full color palette lessons. Thanks!!

I have the realistic portrait drawing course , and I like it , so naturally I have an eye on this course now.
Can you tell me what the block in course offers that is different from the realistic portrait drawing course?
thank you

I didn't see the downloads until just a few minutes ago. I followed the visual style and did some measuring. Although, to be honest I struggle with the measuring.
By struggling I mean I seem to take an inordinate amount of time to measure and when I think I have it, I measure again and come to realize that nope, my proportions are incorrect.
I'll try it again with the newly downloaded portraits provided. In the meantime, here is what I managed by doing the first 3 videos of the visual style. I know it is still not accurate, but would like to hear some feedback as to what I need to improve.
Yes I know I added features (like the mouth and the eyes) when that's not part of the first 3 videos.

@Stephen Bauman which paper are you using here. Which paper is ideal for pencil drawing like the ones you do. Could you share specific brand and paper speciation as well please

Hi, I wanted to ask which pencil you use for making such portraits

Hello Stephen,
Great job. I just finished watching the entire series of real-time videos and I got a lot out of it. You gave lots of good ideas about technique and things to think about while creating a portrait like this. But... at the very last moment of the final video, there's a bit of a surprise.
In the image below, the left side shows how your drawing appears throughout the real-time videos. Then, on the right side, we see the final drawing in the "Thanks For Watching" screen and it is much darker with more contrast.
Can you please tell me which one, left or right, best represents the final image? I actually like both, but I'm about to try this portrait myself and I want to mimic your approach as much as I can. But now I'm not sure what my end-state is supposed to look like.
Thanks
Rich
