Whew. That was boring. I am not a fan of drawing things like that. But I struggled through it! The less I cared about the project, the faster I moved, which was nice. I know it's not good to have such strong dislikes when starting something new, but I've NEVER liked drawing from life. I just don't care about where the shoelaces are going. It tells no story. But, I digress. My brain hurts from trying to care about shoelaces, but I did find it helpful to look for larger shapes and draw from contours and from negative spaces. I'll be working on my focus as well as my drawing as I move forward.

CSI simplify Level 1 Snail. Because the drawings I've made before this course are so stylized, I've never *really drawn from life while trying to get dimensions correct. My life drawings from college were very gestural and, because I was a designer not a fine artist (in my thinking - I was young), I didn't care about being accurate in that environment, either. Well. I'm here now, wanting to draw instead of design, so I'm now aware of the challenges ahead. Looking forward to learning more and becoming more confident.
This is the best pear of all the pears I've seen, style-wise. It's so bold and bordering on cubist. I totally dig it.

Had fun with drawing some roosters! I definitely want to do this exercise with more animals. My shape design obviously needs work, but as a beginner, I’m happy with this so far!
