Level 2: My friend had a dream in which I was performing surgery on someone. I attempted to construct a scene from this dream based on his written account. The first attempt ended in some unfortunate marker lines, so I tried again without marker. Then I tried it from a different perspective and foolishly went back to the marker. Finally I just did some boxes. Next time I will again use the marker.

I started out with some level 1 blobs, and then invented a couple of level 2 head/rib age/pelvis combinations. I think I struggled to get realistic relative positions between head/rib cage/pelvis when trying to draw without reference. Afterwards i took some reference photos from the Rhythm project assignment and drew four of these. The proportions of the head/ribcage/pelvis are probably not too correct. Thanks!

Not too happy with these, but hey, it's still practice

A bunch of 2’s and a 10. I couldn’t really think of a character, but maybe he is ‘happy thick- limbed undies guy’

I tried to start with some force lines and find some rhythms, then put cubes and boxes over that. Even tried the pelvis structure- that thing hurts my brain. I would like to do more but I’m already up way past my bedtime. 12,17 minutes.

The livestream was excellent- thanks guys! I felt I understood it clearly, then when I started the timer old habits took over and I forgot everything I just learned. Managed to rein it in a little on some three minute gestures.

Ink and water, 20 minutes. The grey ink was a lot lighter than I recall it being. Oh well.

I had about an hour to draw today- not enough to take an anatomy course! I have a rough idea of what the bones and muscles look like, but is there a better way to represent them in one drawing? Were we meant to actually draw the bones? When I darkened the muscles, the bones disappeared and then vice versa ad infinitum.

This was the first assignment in the basics course, 11 months ago. Of course, there’s still a long way to go, but I can now get a better likeness in 25 minutes than I could in 2 hours at that time.

This challenge is really hard. I am a master at avoiding hands in my drawings :). This is why worked through Proko's course Anatomy of the hands, which was soooo helpful. I did some assignments from that course, therefore my drawings are very Proko style ;-). I learned a lot, but there is still a long way to go to draw hands without guidance. I really enjoyed facing this challenge.

Hands are a lot easier to draw if they’re claws.
