who knew shading squares and gradients could be meditative!
I ended up discovering a process for the gradients- establish the lightest and darkest tones, find the middle of the strip and establish the mid tone. This is the most important decision. Now divide the 2 sections again and establish mid tones of each section. With 4 manageable sections, start grading the lightest box up to the established darkest tone for that box. And so on..
Do you have another process? Please share!
I'd shade my lightest tone, then go over it again about two thirds of the way, then get my darkest 1/4 the way (or before that, my second darkest 1/3 the way), then work on the transitions between them.
