Hi everyone,
Here's my assignment for the Level 1 warmup. This exercise was more difficult than I thought, but was really insightful none the less.
Thanks !

Hi everyone ! Here's my level 2 assignment.
I went for an hercules beetle for my choice of bug. At first, I was not sure what I wanted to do. But I finally decided to do an old beetle king. I thought that using the concept of the Strong, solid beetles with it strong horns, would do a nice contrast with an old and weak king.
Here's the study, refs and the final draft.
Thanks everyone !! I hope you guys enjoyed this project as much as I did.

So these are my attempts! I am not used to drawing from imagination to be honest but this seemed to be pretty fun. First attempt wasn't great but then I came up with something pretty decent I think!

I struggled to understand if I should upload this or not, because it’s so far off from everyone else’s! I tried to go for the uber simplification, planes + one value, and not sure if it corresponds to what Stan wants or not.

Hi Stan, Hi fellow students !
With the help of Stan's review of my latest post and this pear demo, I've been refining my assignment.
I corrected my values, which were too light and confusing. I was also using some outline between my values which I didn't want to. I think the reason why was because I was using too much pressure in the contour at the beginning of the sketch. So, I erased some parts to do some nice, clear shaped, values.
Thanks you stan for the feedback a few days earlier and this amazing Demo !!
Really looking foward to learn some more in the upcoming videos.

Here's my first assignment for the level 1. I use a small sketchbook, which is 5.5in X 8.5in. I think it's poor quality with rough texture on the paper, which affects my line quality. I have some difficulty to fill properly the values. I might buy some quality supplies soon ahaha. But for now, I had a lot of fun to simplify the subject. I'll work on level 2 and post it afterwards. Critique welcomed.

Hey you guys! I took the reference of the pear that Stan gave and made this! Would love some feedback. Thanks!

nice drawing , I would be more cautious about the shape of the pear, especially the right side, where you can see tiny bumps in the silhouette ! Also has @Aljoscha Adam said, I think you could push the values a little bit further, I say that, but in my case, I have some difficulties with values, I'm working on that. But besides that, I think you did a great job for blocking the different values of the subject, with the form of the shadow.
Hope this helps :)

Hello everyone! I would call myself an intermediate artist. I have some background in oil painting, but I want to hone my skills in drawing, especially perspective and drawing from imagination :) I will also do this course digitally. I hope everybody has a great time learning and practicing. I just finished this portrait. I would love to get some feedback :) Cheers from Germany.

I see that you're blocking values pretty well on the face features. Maybe do the same for the hair, where there's highlight values, don't be shy to use more contrast brushes for the hair.I think the proportions are quite good too ! I'm doing the course with pencil and paper, so I have quite a difficult time adjusting my values with HB Pencil ahaha
Great job !

Hi,
I had so much fun drawing while waiting for the upcoming course, so I drew the subject again. Thanks to the feedback of Stan, I worked on my values and shadows. I wanted to show you my blocking process, but I forgot to capture it. Before i knew it, I was finished with my assignment :(
Anyways, here's version 01 and 02 (After feedback).
Thanks !

I know it’s early but I got inspired by everyone..and the perfect reference picture Proko posted. So, I popped in my ear buds, played Game of Thrones soundtrack and got lost. Tried several mediums graphite mechanical pencil, ink and ball point pen. Any criticism is welcomed.

Here’s my pear. Please forgive the scratches in the paper. There is a whole group of pencils that are about to get banished from my collection 🙈 I know it’s early but am glad to get started regardless. Any feedback cherished.

Love the use of blue colors and tones. If you want my opinion, I think defined lines and shapes with more contrast. would suit better for the right side of the pear. But besides that, the shading is neat ! Great job

Did 4 pear sketches, the two on top are from the reference in comments and the others from the video. Attempt #4 was done while referring to his sketch in the video. I liked how my sketches started but not so much after adding the lighter tones.
