had a problem with proportions in this one, what do you guys think?

decided to give the pear another shot while watching thru this video. I feel like my values are improving in the shadows but I think I'm struggling with the mid half-tones and lighter ones. Thoughts?
Maybe brighten up the darkest values or darken up the lighter ones, because the darks immediately grab attention and it kinda feels unbalanced; and try to make the background either lighter or darker. It feels like the pear is dissa(pear)ing haha into the background. Your shading is really even and you kept the shapes simple :)

after going thru the level 1 demo, I decided to challenge myself with a more complex situation! I noticed I struggled with values so I gave myself more range this time. Please critique.

pre-demo attempt.
I can see now after watching the demo that my values need to be varied over a wider range (shadows need to be much darker). Please any critiques would be highly appreciated

I like the even tones of value. I think the value range is fine, they just need to be more organized.
Watch out for those really small shadow shapes. You want to simplify all the shapes as much as possible.
Here’s something I made for another student that may help you out as well.
