Definitely highlighting my lack of human anatomy knowledge. Proportions are way off. Regardless, line weight makes a huge difference. Probably my favorite lesson so far. Side note: My shading is hella scratchy on the background. I think I used too hard of pencil for it. Plus the paper I’m using is pretty grainy.

I’m definitely going to switch to colored pencils for sketching. Normal graphite pencils are too tempting to fall into engraved behaviors. Trying to undo being very heavy handed.

My mindset wasn’t great. I get weird when drawing images I don’t like. And I tend to rush to just get a task done. Something I need to work on

It was so tempting to watch this video before drawing the pear. I definitely need to work on simplifying mine further, while having a clearer distinction of planes. Outlined the different values. Took the “edge” instructions in a very literal way.

I’ve never drawn values as shapes. Let alone with edges. Was a fun assignment.

I’ve never used blue or red pencils to sketch. Definitely going to get some. It can be too easy to put more time than intended on doodles.
