Very interesting idea, keep exploring and developing it through these compositions!
I wanted to point on in this one that the perspective of the dragon’s head and the guy don’t match. If you put the in boxes they’re facing different directions. It could be an interesting narrative to explore with multiple solutions. You could flip the guy to match the perspective of the dragon or vice versa, or you could give the dragon some bend in the neck to connect the two different perspectives.
There’s a lot you can do with this, play with some different iterations!

Thank you Melanie. I have no idea how I didn’t spot that perspective inconsitency but it’s super obvious now that you’ve pointed it out. As I was initially hesitant to post, I am glad I decided to get feedback.
Working on an illustration for an ongoing set of illustrations related to a story I call AXR2120.
In AXR2120 humanity has reached a world that exhibits a phenomena where their underlying inner monsters can exist alongside them and are manifested as a variety of giant creatures in the physical plane.
For this illustration I am concerned about scale in the composition: I am wondering if the scale ratio of man to inner monster is portraying the phenomena well... what are your thoughts?
Thank you Patrick!
I am looking to improve on background art. As I have been sort of neglecting it since day 1 (lol), I do have occasional moments of great output but it is not second nature to me by any means.

Besides what Steve Lenze has mentioned, consider the lighting.
You currently have 4 light sources: 2 equal sources of light from both left and right directions, 1 direct front facing light source, and one from top right of the image (left of character).
While having many light sources is not incorrect, it is quite complex. If you decide to keep them, you have to make sure that the shadow shapes are designed as per the lighting conditions.
An easy way to approach it is as follows:
Set your first light source...outline the shadow parts of this light
Set your second light source...outline the shadow parts of this light
Repeat for other sources of light...
Where these shadows intersect will be your darkest tones, and where they do not, become affected by the other light sources, hence making them brighter.
Keep it up!
The rock figure came about randomly one day, glad you like it!
The web's definitely been in favor of social media platforms the last 15 years, and I never quite got the same value in them for artist growth as the old-school forum format.
What do you suggest is the best way to get value from the Proko platform overall? Including offerings beyond the forum itself..
Woa, last time I joined an art community was in 2005, the long since forgotten UCM URDrawing...
I am a generalist overall but do put more effort in some sort of hybrid manga/anime stuff. I've shared a couple of things I've done as an introduction.
Definitely looking for a place to grow online, I had no idea Proko had a forum format artist community, and looking to give it a shot!
