Day Four… I forgot to do it yesterday! Went for a comic style this time. It’s another Pexels find… because it’s hot and I want to watch the 3rd season of the Orville. (It’s good! FYI)

day 3, ballpoint pen sketch from reference photo (with a bit of under-drawing in red pencil) Trying to freehand the dishes in perspective was a mistake lol, the shapes of the ovals are surprisingly delicate.

Day 2... I didn't want to die from heatstroke so I avoided the shed and found a picture from Pexels of one of my dad's old cameras. (I'm an Aussie... It's HOT down here!)

Not good drawing day, but everyday is drawing day. Went to our local aircraft museum today, the museum was actually not heated, i could draw for 45 min before my fingers got too cold to go on. 😅 Straight to the paper with pigma micron markers. Continued at home a little with pictures. (The swastika is not nazi sign here, if i remember correctly finnish airforce had this sign before nazi germany)

day 2, more ink sketches this time (from photo reference) with a bit of under-drawing, also trying out some marker (with mixed results, shadows are too warm).

Day One... The Wall... and the basket... and the other wall... and the cabinet. ... That moment where you realize you don't know how to draw a cylinder T-T . Clearly I needs more practice.

Aaron Blaise’s Website creatureartteacher.com has a story boarding course. I found it really helpful when I was making a comic. It’s called “The Art of the Storyboard by Lyndon Ruddy”. Also, Robotpencil has a YouTube video on his storyboard for a video game. It’s pretty recent, just incase you want to see something with a lot of energy in it. I also think moderndayJames made a tutorial on storyboarding, also on YouTube. Things to keep in mind: - Use the close-ups sparingly. They’re for a punch, impact. Too many and you lose the impact. - Storyboarding means using camera angles and knowing which works for what scene and your emotional intentions for that scene. - The Rule of Thirds still applies. - Anatomy matters. It doesn’t need to be perfect. But it needs to be there. Have fun :)

Halloween in July. I plan to go trick or treating with the kids this year... for the first time! We live in Australia. It's taken a while but we're catching on to this trick or treating business :P I had covid... still have... so I wasn't able to take any group photos for reference. I had to blend what I already had of the kids with some stock photos from pexels and what I've been learning from Aaron Blaise tutorials.

I love the idea of a doorway in the middle of nowhere going to another random place… that is also in the middle of nowhere but… you know… prettier.

I don’t really know what’s going on… but I’m pretty sure something’s about to go down. Ink work is great! The smoke and the eye are phenomenal!

Motivation and inspiration don’t mean much when it comes to drawing. It’s great when it comes by and you should ride the wave but you can’t really rely on it. I can’t force myself to be motivated or inspired but I can force myself to do the work. Short term - sucks. Long term - I’m drawing better than I did a year ago so… progress! :)

Brief Summary: I’m tired and I have much more respect for comic artists… Oh… right… the story! It’s my take on the last Harry Potter book. I never quite understood how a war could be so boring. After reading The Poppy War I kind of figured out what I was missing and decided to bring some more grittiness to the Harry Potter franchise. So this is Ron, under the influence of the Horcrux necklace, killing Hermione and then Harry chasing him down, to either save or to kill Ron - the consequences of which will change him forever.

My submission for the Book Cover challenge. The hated and loved Moby Dick (I love it). Trying something old school.
