ASSIGNMENTS

Your Assignment

Now that you've done your thumbnails, it's time to take them to the next stage of development.

  1. Choose your favorite thumbnails from the set you created.
  2. Develop at least three of these favorites into more detailed sketches.
  3. Add new details to evolve the character. Consider making changes to their hair, outfit, or adding objects they might be wearing or carrying.

Keep it Creative

As you work on these sketches, remember to keep your process flexible.

Try to keep your drawings loose, almost as loose as your initial thumbnails. This is still a great phase to be super creative. Don't be afraid to change and refine your ideas as you go. You are not stuck with your first concept, so don't feel locked down on any single design.

You have until 12/05/25 to submit your art for possible inclusion in the critique video!

Hello all. I decided to draw up my little rope fella, he seemed a bit more interesting. I kinda liked the idea of some dubious lord slapping some armour on one of these things and letting it run amok.

I picked my favourite - which was in back view in the first assignment XD. So I did the front view. But I am definately not as loose as I want to be. I fear being loose means being chaotic and that it ends in a mess of lines. That's why I tighten everything. I still tried to vary and to give the three versions room to breathe by erasing and rethinking parts.
