Hello Everyone! My Name is Carlos and I´m from Venezuela. I´m glad and thankful to participate on this sculpture competition, is always a pleasure for me to have an excuse to reconnect with the sculpture of human body, and see the fantastic work of other sculptors. Here I show you my work based on the reference photos of our model Charlie. I have taken the dare to add some elements to contribute to a narrative of the pose. At first Charlie´s pose reminded me that ancient roman sculture of The Farnese Hercules, so I added the skin of the Nemean lion, leaning on the club. So, in the end with these two elements, and with her hair in movement, Charlie becomes in my sculture the Queen Omphale, who owned Hercules as a slave and wore Hercules' lion skin and club while he was her servant. By the way, the name Omphale means ¨woman with beautiful navel¨ So I couldn't ignore the piercing in her navel.

I don't see in the requirements/task (that @Andrew Joseph Keith mentioned for the winners)!!! 1. Figurative clay sculpting type for the "Bronze Casting". 2. That design can be "Fantasy". 3. That figure and the portrait - "Don't Should be like the Model". Actually - Requirements are opposite!!!
@tuyenmaivan07
Greetings from Vietnam. I am a student of the Figure Sculpting Fundamentals Course by Andrew Joseph Keith. Thank you for organizing this competition; I am very excited. However, I discovered it too late to complete my work by the deadline on the 21st. Nevertheless, I still want to submit my piece with great enthusiasm and joy.

Welp, I was not able to refine the hands or feet in time. Job got in the way and fell sick recently. The whole sculpture overall is decent considering its my first full human figure. There is of course still room for improvement on stuff like anatomy and cleaning up the surface. I used polymer clay, foil, and 20 gauge steel wire. It is around five inches, so it was really difficult to model at times. Some bits of wire are sticking out because the steel was really hard to twist and it hurt my fingers : ( . For the block, I could not get wood, so I had to use an old sanding block which was wobbly. I replaced the stand with a sword cause swords are cool. Regardless of the obstacles and future disappointment, it was nice to work on this.

Thank you so much Proko and Andrew for this great opportunity to participate to this competition for free. I'm a bit disapointed with the result but considering this is my first figure sculpting in clay...I used water base air dry clay. Big mistake! At first, it's too soft and then it dries out so fast, it gets crusty, it shrinks and cracks. Next time, I'll be using oil base Sculptey as you recommended. I used Dash because it's cheaper (15$ versus 25$ for Scultey in Canada), but I think it worth spending a bit more. Thank you so very much Andrew for the free scupting lessons. You're a great teacher! Can't wait for the next competition!

Thanks for the opportunity! This figure is 40.5 cms / 16 in tall and was done with Chavant NSP Hard, which gave me trouble because right now we get very hot and very cold weather on the same day. Cheers everyone!

I know it ain’t the greatest but for my first sculpture I’m happy with it learned a lot about the clay and my tools, plus time management haha
