In this demonstration, I build on the popular ugly truth assignment from Ideacraft. You'll be challenged to draw from reference for 20 minutes to capture detail and structure. From there, you're given 2 minutes to draw from memory- 1 minute, 30 seconds and 15 seconds. Choosse your "most interesting" drawing, go back to your original reference and introduce white highlights on the toned paper to further refined design your shapes. 

This assignment teaches you that the most accurate drawing isn't always the best drawing. Your natural tendency to stylize will come through and you might just like where this leads you!
