LESSON OO: Start Here
To learn is to solve a maze from the center. To teach is to retrace your steps.
Between the teacher and the student there is an unspoken contract: the exchange of knowledge for passion. That is the price. No more, no less.
Let’s begin.
Welcome to Vision!
I'm Sterling Hundley, and I built Vision to teach you how to capture your ideas, make decisions with clarity and to make your ideas a reality.
Vision is one part of the Think Louder project, that includes Ideacraft, Voice and Vision.
ABOUT THE COURSE
I. Delivery
METHODS: We receive information through distinctly different channels. This course will ask that you read, watch, listen, and take action at different times. There is specific information that is best understood when read, while other information must be seen, listened to, or applied.
WEEK 1: Orientation & Priming. The first week will teach you to self-orient, as well as to understand the fundamentals of Vision, which will be applied throughout the course. Week one includes a new lesson for each day.
WEEKS 2-5: Lessons can be taken at your own pace, but are designed to work around a six-week schedule. Each week, you will receive information through a variety of lessons, case studies, and demonstrations. The completion of each assignment will move you closer to your final goal.
WEEK 6: Final Project. During week 6, you will focus on your final Pitch by organizing your written and visual elements into a cohesive final presentation. This pitch can take many forms, including a portfolio, small business plan, Kickstarter campaign, presentation, exhibition proposal, etc.
II. Structure
Syllabus: An overview of the course content and schedule. This is the primary document to reference regarding the schedule, assignments and course expectations.
Lessons: Articles and written explanations of key principles.
Videos: Demonstrations to support lessons.
Case Studies: Illustrate the application of lessons through specific examples.
Demonstrations: Shows techniques, materials and tool use.
Downloads: Documents to support lessons and overall development.
Assignments: Challenge you to apply course lessons to your own work.
Major Assignments: You will receive four major assignments. Three will challenge you to produce professional standard thumbnail sketches with a focus on well-designed ideas. In the final weeks, you will take a thumbnail developed from one of the three Major Assignments and finish it as a full-color completed project. You will also complete a second black-and-white project.
Minor Assignments: You may be challenged to complete small projects in response to lessons that complement your Major Assignments.
III. Outcomes
*Get done what you can, based on your schedule. This can get quite intensive, so cut back the volume of work to meet your realistic expectations.
