Troubles with Basic Pelvis form - I need help
1yr
@basti_
Hello everyone! :) I'm having troubles drawing the basic pelvis form as proko explains it. I describe the problems in the pictures. But also, once I will have figured the way to contruct this bucket pelvis form, do I always have to do all those steps? Like man, I just wanna draw that simple form and don't want to construct like 3 different lines just to figure out the right one for the elpise... also in the spine videos of proko, he just draws the pelvis bucket freely without constructions. So I guess there must be a way to really understand this form and being able to draw it freely as proko demonstrates it. But how? This really frustrates me and I can't figure it out myself. I would be so happy if someone could clear this bucket pelvis form up. With kind regards Basti

Hi @basti_ , interesting questions! "do I always have to do all those steps? (...) So I guess there must be a way to really understand this form and being able to draw it freely" I've run into similar problems. I thought that the only way you drew accurately from imagination was to do advanced constructions with scientific accuracy. So I dived deep into perspective and read Scott Robertson's book How to Draw. And it shows you techniques that can help you construct complex forms, like the bucket. And the techniques worked, though I found it to be an innefficient way to draw for the things I want to do (create worlds, characters and stories from imagination). The approach that would suit my goals (and yours, I think), is more intuitive. You will get accurate results, but the accuracy is not necessarily based on technical measurements, but imagination, a feeling and understanding of form and gesture, and the understanding of the subject you want to draw. In short, classical drawing. How much experience do you have in drawing? What courses have you taken? I couldn't see any in your course library. If you want to learn how to draw from imagination I highly recommend that you check out the Figure Drawing Fundamentals, or maybe even better the Drawing Basics course. Do you know how to draw cylinders? A simple way to construct the bucket, is to start with a cylinder, then flatten it. When drawing from imagination it helps me to imagine touching the forms. Thinking like I am a sculptor and as if the thing I'm drawing is actually there right in front of me. To tune your intuitive feeling for how the bucket looks, you could try this process: Draw it from imagination. Check with the 3D model to see how close you where. Note specific things that are off in your drawing. Redraw it, correcting those specific things Draw the bucket from imagination again, but in a different angle Repeat the process Let me know if this helps :)
