Today's potrait

Hi everyone! This a potrait drawn by me in graphite on smooth newspaper paper (for print). I drew this with loomis head methods. I would really appreciate any critique.

Hi Sagnik, Nice job on your drawing today. I think working on the loomis method will help you greatly with your future drawings. My recommendation would be to focus more on output of heads with focus on proportions than on shading and rendering at this point. Usually rendering a drawing takes a significantly larger amount of time compared to the amount of time laying down the inital sketch. Maybe try doing 5 or 10 loomis heads focusing on the line drawing and proportions and then if there's one in that group that you really like, redraw it and try rendering it out. Just some thoughts. Keep up the good work!

Hey, @Sagnik Kirtan you did well. loomis method is really helpful and you can use reilly rhythms with it, I think it will help you with proportions... keep up the good work!

I would say just look out for proportions, since those lips are a bit off and bigger than normal. Then a bit more of contrast between shadows, Dorian Iten has a video that talks about how to shade properly.

Hey, you did a fine job! Without reference it's a bit hard to give a fully objective critique, so try to upload one next time you ask for advice :) As for the portrait itself, I believe the mouth should be a bit higher up and distance from it and the nose generally is quite a bit shorter. Aside from that, both lips look a bit too full and I think the nose should be facing more towards the direction her eyes are looking at. Here, I did a quick liquify so you can see what I mean, visually (Also check out the neck, ear and jaw). I hope it helps : )

It looks like you could use some practice wrapping lines over rounded forms (like the eyelids and mouth). You can do this by drawing cylinders and spheres with a rubber band wrapped around them. Also practice drawing ellipses at various angles ( Scott Robertson has some good tutorials on drawing ellipses in his "How to Draw" book, and you can probably find them on his Youtube page or google images)

I also had the same thought when I looked at the reference. The lips are really big and the ears are nearly hiding in the sea of his hairs!
