If you feel like your art isn’t improving, gesture is impossible, or you’re just ready to give up, this thread is for you! Artists let’s support other artists who experiences those hard times just like me, you, them, him, her, ✨ post one thing that helped you! ✨ read and find one thing that gives you hope! keep it short and kind! I’ll start: whenever I feel frustrated like my art is not coming out good, I look for one thing out of the whole picture/drawing that I noticed I improved. For example, let’s say I don’t like my gestures because they’re still stiff, but noticed hey! My linework is coming less scratchy than yesterday! That’s a win! now it’s your turn!

Gesture... just all of it. it feels like you need an already insain amount of anatomy to even make it look like anything close to the ref. Faces in general. like practicing Asaro. All those plains, or Reilly ((who didnt leave any notes behind so his students had to make some for him)) And the rythems of the face. God its soo much to do before you can even start drawing the face. Perspective. I dont think i will ever get good at it. Its just to much. I dont use math when i draw perspective so i cant really create as well as those that are good at math. I could go on, but i think you get the idea.

Hi @Morphex I def hear ya about there are a lot of topics, techniques, theories, and skills to learn for art. I believe Stan or someone else said that art growth is not linear and that its like a web. It spreads out touching many different concepts. I believe you don't have to master all of it, I think it really depends on what type of artist you want to be. For example, if someone wants to be an industrial design artist, I think they need to highly focus more on perspective and not so much figure drawing lol. What is your goal as an artist? What type of artist do you want to be?

My tip is just redo things you’ve learned it in your career over a years and even if that takes up hours, it’ll be worth it in the end because you’ll remember several things you forgotten.

So it’s something that I found fun was to draw from video game covers because it has some variety and if you choose one that you really like, then you’ll get something that you find something that you’re proud of.

This always comes to mind when I sit down to draw!

One of the best analogies I’ve found for art is a path. We’re all travelers along a road. Everyone hikes along at their own pace but we all face similar challenges. We’ve all had periods of faster and slower progress. We camp in spots that seem nice and sometimes struggle to leave spots that aren’t so nice because they’re familiar. What might be a stone in the path for you may seem like a boulder or mountain for someone else. Taking pleasure in the journey and having empathy for your fellow travelers seems to be the most important part. Helping one another along the path creates its own rewards. if you’re feeling frustrated or down, remember: - There are different ways to travel - What seems impassable now may prove easier with the right preparation - Other travelers are ahead of you and behind you, ask for help and give help freely

i love this analogy! I will def remember this one. Thank you for sharing! 🙏🏻

I forgot to mention that I wanted to create this thread because I noticed artists experiencing frustration in the community and I just wanna be their helping hand and encourage them that it’s ok! We all have those moments! But you’ll be alright and it will get better!
