You can't upload more than 20 images to a post so I had to split them up. A competent person would've maybe ordered them correctly, but I have no claim to that adjective. Some of them are way too light. Sorry.

I drew 100 Heads of Hair. I spent 26 days on this, which is way too long, but I had some IRL stuff. This was by far the most challenging of the 100 studies I've done. Hair is bonkers. I've always struggled with it. Making long tapered strokes is physically difficult for me. Hair demands an elegant touch at times and I just cannot get there. That aside, I think I found myself improving throughout them. Thinking of the hair as a sculptor made all the difference.
On an unrelated note: I think all bald people should get a 25% discount on their portrait quotes.
Hello everyone,
‘This is my 4th day of doing timer sketches.
I’m attempting the figure drawing course right now and completed the first section today. I want to work more on gesture this weekend then start with “the bean” section on Monday. The orange ones are 30 second drawings and the blue ones are 2 min. I need to work on proportion and making the figures smaller so I don’t get them chopped up. The reason why my lines may be darker than most is because I have an eye condition that limits my vision. It does get confusing sometimes when I’m trying to figure out which line is which.
Looking forward to working with you all!

Really cool! Love the movement of the lines. You have a lot of energy in your mark making, which is awesome! Thanks for sharing.

I know I've said it before, but your torso work, the hips and abdominals into the rib cage? Phenomenal.

Always admire the dedication to get in whatever practice you can during this swirl of chaos we call life. Well done!

The biggest change I've seen in your drawings over this time is the amount of personality leaking through. It's great to see your willingness to represent and interpret imbuing your well-honed draftsperson skills. An absolute treat to see and a huge inspiration for my own drawings.

Another sketch today.
I didn't get the likeness close at all with this. I might have to brush up on some portrait skills, too. This art thing is a can of worms.

Sketch done at the end of the workday. This is a sketch of my officemate.
I like the way these look better when I have access to my scanner, but if all I have it my phone, it will have to do.

I immediately see in these how all of your perspective work gives you such an important tool to solve these visual problems.

These are phenomenal, Gannon. I see you pushing them hard and I love where you're taking it. Great energy. Really impressive perspective work. Some beautiful anatomical details in the longer poses. Absolute joy to look at these.

Another quick session with youtube NMA figure drawing. Tried using a ballpoint pen this time and I'm not sure about the result. I like how loose it feels to draw with it, similarly to charcoal, but on the other hand I end up with a hundred of lines instead of one or two. Also, this time I was drawing flat on the table and I think this didn't help with my judgement of proportions - all of these figures seem to have very short legs ;)

So; yes, there was an outbreak of tiny legs. I often do the opposite and have giant lower halves. Incredibly common and mostly an effect of the different positioning. Aside from that I am enjoying the weight these figures have. They feel grounded. I can see the weight placement clearly. I struggle with this in a horrible "floating" way so I really enjoy seeing it done well. Ballpoint is a wonderful medium and so effortlessly fluid, giving you real freedom to find the momentum in your lines. Love where you're defining some of the planes of the figure in the longer drawings. Really nice dimensionality. All in all, some great practice and pleasing results. Nice!

I love how animated your lines have become. There's still all that wonderful form and motion you've always captured but the marks themselves have such liveliness now too. It's great!
