Hey guys, I'm once again trying to carve out time to sit down and get back on the art learning train. I've been doodling in my spare time but at a point now where I feel I've began to stagnate. There is obviously a lot to learning art so I was wondering if anyone has any recommendation on how they balance all the different methods and theories when they are learning. For example I've more experience with figure drawing and characters but when it comes to portraits and drawing landscapes I kinda suck. So ideally I'd like to tackle the weakest areas but I worry that If I focus to much on one area I may end up neglecting another. How can I approach learning scenery and landscapes without letting figure drawing fall by the wayside. Is it even possible? Any tips on workflows and approaches on how to keep everything balanced would be appreciated. :)

Hey Stephen, Nice work on these, it shows you have been really working. I have done some drawings over yours to show you some of things I noticed you could work on. Mostly proportion, and structure. At this stage you should not focus too much on the outline of your figures, and think more about how to show the 3D quality of them. I hope this helps :)

Awesome, thank you very much! I'll try and incorporate this into my future drawings! :)

Hey guys, I've been following the Proko Drawing Fundamentals course for approximately 6months now. Haven't yet completed the course but thought I'd upload some drawings. I have some notes on where I know I'm going wrong but your guy's feedback is also welcome! :)

Here are some of my work. The colored one done five years ago and the drawing done today . It’s Richard pryor. And the painting is Vincent del bosque

I really like this. The only thing that really stands out to me is that I feel you could tighten up the paint job. Currently it feels as if colours are bleeding into one another and some of the forms are becoming lost. If you look at the shadows edge that is underneath the chin it is much sharper than anything else in the image and it's where my eye went to first when first looking at your work.
