Worked on the level 2 camel this morning. This one was a bit difficult around the legs, but tried to simplify them as best I could.

Continued with the other boot and tried my hand at the snail today. Thoughts and observations appreciated.

Here is my attempt at one of the boots from the provided boot image. Tried not to get too caught up in the details and just stick to straight and curved lines

Thank you so much for the comments, tried really hard to not get sucked into all of the details and really get the proportions accurate

Not necessarily from life, but decided to work on the first plate for Charles Bargue's Cours de dessin to start off this challenge
Started the underpainting for the portrait of my little super hero. What do you guys think?

Added a little more detail to the underpainting to get it setup for the initial paint pass

Here is my level 1 attempt. Not too happy with the line work in the shaded areas so will probably give this one another go before attempting the level 2.
I just finished this drawing up for a family member who had to put their pup down last week after being with them for almost 14 years. Hopefully I did him justice!

Just sharing a drawing I worked on earlier today

Here is a drawing I did a few days ago of my daughter as a superhero. Really excited to start this course so that I can get better at judging and managing proportions. I find myself relying too much on taking actual measurements with tools (i.e. ruler, proportional divider, etc.) I am really looking forward to getting better at just being able to put pencil/paintbrush to surface and being able to more naturally and accurately capture a likeness without all of the crutches.

I am assuming that the reference photos have not been posted yet by Stan and that everyone is basically working from stills taken from the video, is that a correct assumption? Or did I miss something?

Would you only ever use linen mounted on MDF for simple studies?
