Captain skull pre demo, I did the hat too small and not everything is exact but I’m happy enough with it and feel like I was able to execute the purpose of the exercise well.

After and before: The first one here is after watching the demo...sigh. Not really an improvement. I felt like the only times I was really practicing Cs and Ss was on the long contours of the boots. The laces were too tight, in a manner of speaking, to feel like I had any scope to really C or S. Also, I kept losing track of where I was on the <expletive deleted> laces.

The C and the S’s are in the laces, you just gotta look for it. I was really intimidated coming into those shoes, however I did eventually see that I could simplify. I’ll do a pass with a 2h first kinda doing the big stuff and laying out my proportions. Then I’ll go in with the hb pencil and not worry about drawing through where other laces are. Finall I’ll go darker with the hb or do a 2 b and do a final pass.
If you mess it up no biggie, just start over. Hope my perspective on it helps.
