@Devin Korwin thank you for this 3D model - the only disappointment is that even though it clearly states in "Overview" that the 3D model is accessible without a software*, it is actually not the case. I realized only after my purchase that the FAQ corrects this information... I would recommend removing this selling point from the "Overview" to avoid confusion or add a browser version (even better!) * 3D Models Some lessons include 3D models that you can view right in your browser! No need to download any software. These will help you study further and they’re a great aid for assignments.

This is my assignment, each takes around 5-8 mins some of them I m not sure what the poses are doing so I take around 10 mins on them. It looks a bit messy, and drawing with 1 simple and confident line is my goal, try to include some obvious muscle rhythm in it. but I m so scared that i m simply following the contour of them. Please tell me if I am doing it right, Coz sometimes I think I understand wt rhythm is but when I include the subtle details, like the muscle group, I get lost in it. By the way I love using a 0.5 HB mechanical pencil for all my sketch, is it a bad medium to use?

I am also challenged by keeping my line clean, but you do a much better job than me :D! Do you erase some lines afterwards to clean it up or is that your full sketches?

Here are my sketches! In general, one of my biggest challenge is to keep my lines clean (it gets even worse when using charcoal). I try to stop myself when I realize I draw three times the same line in the hope of hitting the right one, but I am not yet there in terms of the control of the pen (I am using the overhand grip for those sketches). Thanks for any feedback!

I am going through the figure drawing fundamental course as well and this session clarified so much - awesome lesson!

In the first example Stan shows in this sequence, I'm a little confused how we are seeing the front AND back planes of the torso. Is Stan just super exaggerating his upper box to have and intense curve?

I also find it to be a tricky one - however, it makes sense in my opinion if we consider the central lines (front and back). For the back, we just see half of it, the part until the spine/central line (that we cannot see). Therefore, on your rectangle for the back, you should be able to see half of it. On the front, you can clearly see the central line at the pelvic region, but it then disappears because it is masked by the shoulders. Therefore, the top of your rectangle should cross above the front plane. So I thought it was exaggeration at first, but this is actually accurate. Hope that helps!

Is anybody else sometimes annoyed by the disruptive trumpets in the backgroundmusic?

I am facing a challenge: my sketches after the demo are more static than before the demo. The reason I believe is that I used CSI and a "quick sketches" mindset before the demo and used short "scratchy" lines after the demo to try to replicate the interesting shapes Stan creates. Unfortunately - mine don't render as good as his. I feel like I can either draw movement with very basic shapes or static drawings with interesting shapes. Any tips on how to avoid making the confident CSI lines look static when adding the detailed shapes? Thanks!

Thanks both for your comments - I agree: keeping at it is the best way to solve this challenge. I am also following the course Figure Drawing Fundamentals and that helped for the gesture part. Regarding the interesting shapes, I am still struggling with my line quality and the overhand grip - having more control over my lines will allow me to draw small deviations to my CSI lines which will eventually stop looking like random bumps! Hope you have fun with it! :)
