Drew both of the subjects once before this assignment came out and were quite happy with the results, now that I drew them again according to the assignment the pear looks like god knows what and the dude looks straight out of the Wrong turn movies ;____; Had a lot of fun though! Feel like I stuggled a bit with proportions on the guy and a lot with just simplifying as a concept on both x)
Would love some contructive critisism and also, if anyone has any tips for how to not get stains everywhere (does hairspray work on drawings?) hit me up!

I like the second version of the portrait much more. Ok, forget the likeness. I do not think this should concern us yet. Look at how much more vivid and 3D the second portrait is! That's because you were cateful about the values.

Can we see the versions you drew before?

Here's my level 1 assignment. Going to try tackling the portrait tomorrow!

Aaahh why is this so scary to post? First assignment was a bit of a struggle BUT I am pretty happy with the result. I started off with only one graphite pencil (it doesn't state but it's probably a HB). Will definitely try it again with a wider range to see if it helps with getting better values.
Can't wait to see my progress over the upcoming months!
I feel the same but we need to remind ourselves that this is a safe place and we've all come here to learn <3 Great job!

My pear! Spent about 40 minutes on it. Always been interested in learning to draw (mainly to make different DnD characters and scenes come to life) but never bothered to really go for it until now, so I'm very much a complete beginner. Looking forward to more assignments!
Tried the portrait as well, took about 3 hours and there's some room for improvement but happy that I tried and finished it!
