Hahahaha, I'm so bad at faces it's ridiculous 😆😆😆. One day I will be great at portraits, but today is not that day. I did have fun though and it made me smile throughout the process. I do think I captured disgust. My preliminary sketch reminds me of that meme 😃. All in all, had a great time!

Gesture is something I'm fascinated with. The lines look so simple, yet they detail so much of what's happening and make drawings come alive. I say they look simple, but in reality they are incredibly difficult for me. Gesture is something I strive to master one day!

I went with a bit of a cartoon face, as I've never really attempted portraits really and I'm bad with faces in general. That being said, the objective was to try and get the contours of the armour around the body which I think I pulled off around the legs and knees. I had loads of fun sketching this templar, but I just feel I may have chosen poorly by cartooning the face.

wow I was fighting for my life with these. I always struggle with accuracy to the ref image, so trying to make them look like the person was HARD. Also I tend to jump into rendering to solve problems so forcing myself to stay in line art/drawing stage was hard as well. Glad proko is making us do 12 days of struggling, this feels like a mini art boot camp, but I like having to get out of my comfort zone as well.

These are really expressive and accurate. There really great to look at. It's also amazing how you're able to sketch multiple models. You've developed real skill Bria! 🙌

I found this challenge inspirational! I know nothing about anatomy, but I feel I'm going to love the proko anatomy course when I eventually take it one day. Trying to get the human figure down on paper is one of my main goals, so this was a great way to see where that skill will eventually lead. I chose this model as I felt it was easier to capture than most of the other dynamic poses that included the face and the arrow to the knee was so eye catching!

I did 15 min poses. Now I want to go to the gym because I am wondering why my body doesnt have these muscles:)
4mo
Hahaha, well your muscles may not look like that, but your muscle memory and visualisation is mad impressive! You also got the rhythm of both poses which makes it feel alive! And hey ho, a little dedication and a lot of pain in the new year may yield some results for us both 😆😆

The picture pack of different warriors and the props they had was pretty cool I have to say! I tried to choose a photo that I believed to be within my skill range while still providing a challenge, and also drawing figures challenging all on it's own to be fair :). For this sketch I focused more on darkening the lines that were closer to the viewer to make them more defined and I also tried to focus the viewers attention on the swords. Keep with focus of line weight to progress my artistic journey. Another day of proko in the bag!!

I went over the time limit, as I was more in the ballpark of 40 minutes, but at the end of the day I had a lot of fun and was super absorbed into the process. I know I'm disqualified on this round, but hey this is my first real attempt at a portrait, and it was as much of a challenge as it was fun. So, I'm currently learning line weight in the basics course and I've tried to implement this within the challenge. Even though I'm out of the running for this one, any critiques would be greatly appreciated. I'll try and keep this knowledge going forward for when I eventually take the portrait drawing class. I can't wait to see the other portraits here as there are so many incredible artist here at Proko! Merry Christmas peeps!

Third day of Proko down! Hands are tough... It's something I really want to improve on in the coming years of my training here at proko, so this challenge was right up my alley! Got get that hands on training :)

These are amazing! Such simple lines that tell the story, and fins that feel alive and flowing like they're underwater.

On the second day of proko, my inspo gave to me... Three... mermaid modelssss. Ok, so did these three up to the max limit of 25 minutes that were allotted. I'm only still in the basics course so not onto the figure drawing or portrait courses yet as you can probably tell. This was so much fun and no matter what I will try and complete the remaining days of proko! Thanks for creating and merry Christmas!

"They paved paradise to put up a parking lot". My first attempt on cars. I sketch everyday, but I'm slacking on these submissions.

After watching the critique video I thought I would give the assignment another go and incorporate more ideas to create a new scene. I really found changing the angles of characters really challenging and it pushed me to really think and draw from my imagination this time. It was still a lot of fun and I really like the whole process and I know I want to work on this more.

Alright! Let's get into it! I've been wanting to take a basics drawing course for SUCH a long time. I have been drawing my whole life, but never got formally trained. I have a degree in graphic design, but they never placed any particular focus specifically on drawing and it has always been my dream to improve my art by becoming able to draw. We have A LOT of tools now (not just digital tablets), cameras, canva, photoshop, etc. and I know that being able to draft with precision will really up my game! Thanks to the Proko team for making these videos available! Let's get into it!

That's awesome! I never got a degree but the Proko experience feels like art school to me. You have lessons, assignments and critiques that provide a map of tools you'll need to improve. However, the biggest advantage in my opinion is the community here at Proko and the joy of submitting artwork for your fellow students to see. I feel feedback to improve your artwork is the final piece to completing the experience of a fine art school, so I think you're gonna have a great time. Your figure sketches are really impressive and we all look forward to your future submissions.

Sloths are hilarious, so I really enjoyed studying more about them. Loved to hear some feedback on where to improve even more!
6mo
Sloths are great! Your studies are light and loose and it looks like you had so much fun. The final sketch is definitely a build up of your studies and it looks like a unique and expressive character.

I wanted to combine depth of field with hierarchy...

This is great! Your composition is slightly off, but you've captured the feel of this subject and your line weight makes it pop. The eye is my favourite part. I always run into problems with eyes for some reason.

Kept going with the drawing from observation assignment. I really enjoy sketching animals, as I find it more diverse than inanimate objects and it also feels like it's the next step in developing the skills to draw people. I tried to stay loose with my searching lines yet accurate at the same time. Can I just say that I really like throwing on an old movie and just sketching. It's just my style I think, as I find it immensely relaxing and I can pause my sketch and zone into a scene that's in the film. I sketched these animals while watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom as well as the Last crusade (my personal favourite).
