Hello lovely people, I'm a 3D artist who wants to get better at the fundamentals. Right now, I am focusing on figure drawing and hands.

WIP 1 It is very hard to control these brushes but I'm having a lot of fun blending with them!

You did a great job with proportions! For the legs, I would suggest doing practice rounds of creating hard edges that end with soft edges. The legs look like they're rendered with soft edges. You can go on a separate later and use the same brush but then erase to make a hard edge.

This was a great test and moving forward I'm going to focus more on shapes and blending. I tend to get so focused on details first. Hopefully by the end Ill be more balanced.

Demo painting WIP 1: I started with line work but I have so much trouble seeing form with just lines. I try my best with line work first but eventually crack and start adding tone and then go back to reworking my lines. Currently, reworking my proportions through painting.

I think its good that you did your own attempt first and then a follow along! Trying on your own creates a lot of questions that will be answered in the follow along. Great job!

Need to slow down more and give myself time to check my work before making the darker marks. The explanation on the rotator cuff bumps and bulging areas confused me. Gotta rewatch that.

Usually, storyboards are black and white. Depending on the artist or company, they tend to be rough, so you can quickly iterate while maintaining the tone. I believe Pixar can be a very clean almost finished style of storyboarding compared to others. The mitchells vs the machines kept it very loose. Here's an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6HHpWQv8YI Ohhh, and pixar central on youtube has side by side playlist of their boards vs films. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BTQRYzNL-E&list=PLv__Ylkfv-XMNYLXB0FI0F93ZywAPHvfg Lastly, check out Taniko Pantoja's YT for his videos on storyboarding and animation in general. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyDbN1hpFzA Good luck! :D

I plan to redo this with charcoal soon. I'm hoping by the end of this course I'll understand how to draw the more uncommon angles of the head and stop with the cartoon eyes and crooked noses. 😄

I know that they are pretty flawed and they miss the energy proko is showing, Feedback on why would be greatly appreciated!

Hey friend, I think simplifying your shapes will help you catch the gesture more. For example, the torso is one shape and the entire arm is one shape, and so on. To me, it looks like you're a detail-oriented person who is focusing on each part of the body separately which makes them feel disconnected as a whole. Maybe that's why it feels like you're losing energy? Hope that helps, keep it up!
