I tried different artists and styles I really like :
1- Study of John Bauer - From time to time Santa took hold of the reins (rough translation)
This one I wanted to do some water color, then do the study on top but the paint wasn't dry enough so the ink leak on the page, still posting it because on the dryer part it's ok but I'm a little sad about that one. They were a lot of other iteration on this but this on is the one but that's the most "complete" one of the bunch.
In term of line work, I like the multiple way he use different material to line his different subject and different he use of opacity for showing of depth.
2 -Study of Rebecca Guay - Bitterblossom
I really love the work from Rebecca Guay and her work in fantasy illustration.
I like the fact that you can still see her pencil work within the painting and I love how flowy an light her pencil work is, and it's definitely something I have to work on even after this session.
3 - Study of Hiroiko Araki - Panel from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (JoJolion)
I always loved manga artist, I hesitated between a bunch (Urasawa, Miura, etc...) but I really like the style of Araki and especially the fact that his style change so much from the first tome of his story to today's work.
It's an interesting subject because there are a lot of video him showing him how he work on a piece from start to finish and I really love his process, that's why I choose this one. I went a little heavy handed on some part and I took some shortcut espescially in the cross hatching part. I think I'll try to redo an other panel but with inking and regular cross hatching this time.

Went with a full drawing of the Rhino and did the Importance method first, then on the same drawing with ink did the Light direction, then with marker the other light direction.
For the sketch from observation try to combine some element of depth on the element of the subject and in-between them. Not sure it landed as I wanted.

mismanage the space with the hand, should have started from the hand, not the arm.

ah yes, i talk about that in the proportions lesson later in the course. Try it again ;)
As this is a sketching exercise, I would suggest to try using much looser lines. It feels to me like you are being very careful and scared with each line. Try to execute each stroke from the shoulder and with confidence. Start with light lines and go darker as you see the placement is getting close.

I wanted to make an aviator flying squirrel : so here it is !
Not really sure about the tail in this composition but it made me think of Pompoko so I let it there ^^

My first go at the assignment before watching demo, both model are fun to draw ! Didn't know how much clean we had to do on it so I let it as is. The camel was a little bit more challenging than the skull, but I had fun with it

Hi !
Started today, did the portrait. It was a little challenging to keep it simple and on model and I did overwork some part (some pencil mark). Happy to get feedback and critics. Could also be cleaner
