Gaddammit, I was so distracted by my masterful blobs that I didn't even bother to put the correct box, the perils of blobbing to much. I'll pay better attention now on 😌

I've been blobbing my drawings since our sketch lesson on the Line Section, I'm a master blobber at this point.

Are we still doing weird sinks? Man, I stopped drawing daily and suddenly my strokes are weak, my brain knows what it wants, the hand deliver messy crooked ellipses.

Yaay cylinders! Not just boxes now we get some round shapes also. Lets go!

Sorry it's no longer a pear. What do you think cause I like it huhu. It's messy. It's something that I struggle with for as long as I remember!! More feedback is helpful. Thank youuuuu

That's a nice photo to practice. Overall it shows that you understood the assignment. I think you can go bolder with your value simplification, for example the neck on the photo it's already super simple in value and shapes, but in your drawing there is a lot of complexity in that area, if you simplify that area I think you can get a better result since the neck is not the focus of the composition. Another example where you can go bolder with the values is the side of the cheek with the hair in shadows and maybe even the background, they can be the same value, but that is just personal taste I love that kind of stuff, I may be biased haha. Good work.

Level 2, I think I threw cleanness through the board 🐨🦭

Level 1, this was nice I, I realize that for this project I preferred to explore in a loose dynamic line instead of building a more deliberate shape, so I kind of let it be and work from there, but I tried both styles. You can see the loose approach on the hippo and a more deliberate execution in the monkey or little bird.

My assignment for level 1. I had a lot of fun with this exercise.

This part hit me in the face...
"Now, most people, they draw and they don't even think they're just drawing and they don't stop and think about anything. And they wonder why the drawing doesn't look all that great because you really have to draw, think, stop, interpret, think, Think about what that is that you're drawing.
Look at what you're seeing. Do I like that thing that I'm seeing or do I want to change it now? This is where it gets really advanced, its part what you see part what you know and part what you wish you saw. Most of you are going to be drawing entirely what you see because you don't know that much yet."
Gold.

So here, the line babbling baby trying to babble like the sage old masters of drawing. It messed up with my head. But it was inspiring and helpful, maybe I'll do one serious study like Stan did, this are all too casual. I like both grunchy and smooth lines, I did a little bit of both.

If anybody is still looking for references there is a series on Youtube called The Sketchbook Series by Trojan Horse Was A Unicorn, lots of great artist showing their sketchbooks and opinions, and at the end of the interview they do a quick sketch so you can actually see their masterful use of line in action 👌
