Found a cheap sketchbook lurking and a nice tombow HP pencil. Sketched my brother's dog Tasha. I think it captured her pretty well considering I've no idea what I'm doing yet!!

Happy new year and winter 2023 from Finland! The temperature is chilly and more the reason to spend time indoors with art.
I took time and really thought how i should i go about this course. I'll have to start with traditionally, i'll be going on a vacation trip to Florida and won't be carrying ipad around.
So here's some marker, and colorpencil studies from Douglas Hall's children's book and one mechpencil bird inspired by these and the cold weather. The biggest obstacle for me is the shading. I watch a lot of great illustrations and I love watercolor and the lightshading that pros do, but everytime i try something similar it feels unfinished.
Anyway, happy to join the course, hope to chat with all of yas! Have a great coursetime! 🎉🎉🎉

Getting some tools and doodling to try them out? Sure.
I didn't wait for an assignment to do that. :)
I have a bunch of graphite and charcoal pencils, some sanguine oil ones, kneaded erasers, a few of these forbidden shameful sharpeners, and plenty of sketchbooks. Also bought a cintiq a few months ago for some fancy digital illustrations.
I bought an xp-pen for digital! It's one where you draw on the screen. How are you getting on with it and which software do you use? I'm using photoshop (which is still baffling me)

Boy oh boy, holding this thingy is hard! Just starting up champs, better late then ever ehh??? No? Whatever, clowning around is a market too competitive nowadays, gotta branch out into funnier pastures! Gosh, this thing wobbles, I have trouble just holding it, making lines is another thing! My powerful setup consists of this cool pencil I found at the back of my drawer, this awesome eraser that my friend lended to me back in high school (it was a part of a mother eraser split into smaller little eraserlings) and this rusty knife thingy I also found at the back of my drawer. It's good at sharpening! But most importantly, it's the red... The red... Gosh, I forgot how this red thing that holds paper is called. But it holds paper!!! Very practical, I can stand and draw! The cup is there to drink copious amounts of tea, don't try it at home chums. The clowns are all off, but whatever, they speak for themselves. I wish I could draw by the end of the course. Expect more clowns as the assignments appear!
P.S. I HAVE NO MONEY STAN BUT I HAVE A STACK OF DIFFERENT KIND OF PAPER!!! (it's printer paper)
P.S2 The images are too high res to see, but I think opening the originals helps. Sorry I don't have better lighting :(((
