These concepts are so amazing! !! They're very prominent with their mood. Did you design these for just the films or were they also for games, posters and others? (Would you say the design process change depending on what medium you were making concept for) also what would you say is the key to creating well designed sci-fi armor (I especially love the yellow captain marvel? ones)

Thank you so much for the kind words! The yellow armor concepts were done for Nova Corps. I was kinda channeling some Caterpillar construction equipment for some reason haha, but making it more futuristic. I usually like thinking of design like cooking. Adding ingredients and making a balanced design. Also thinking in terms of percentages that represent , main structure , secondary elements(genre/style) , and texture (color/material) this is interchangeable . But I try to keep one more dominant. Like is it 80% astronaut suit, 10% caterpillar construction machines and 10% star wars. When you say medium, what do you mean about that? traditional or digital?

When I first started working at Marvel Studios Visual Development, these were some of the characters I worked on. This is a variety of level of finish that I would turn in. Sometimes you have to generate a lot of ideas and keep it clear. It's something I have learned to get better though my career. If you have any questions please ask away :)

XD yurg, I don't want to meet them in person, the "gelatin" texture of the skin is so well rendered ! It give a little shiver

Hi Everyone ! Here are some designs I did for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. This is the creature that swallows Drax in the opening sequence of the movie. I am a senior visual development artist at Marvel Studios. I am one of the staff artist that help with designing the Heroes and Villains of the MCU as well as Keyframe production paintings to help visualize a scene. And sometimes I get to do fun creatures like this one! I have been at Marvel for 8 years now and usually designing costumes so when I get to design some creatures it's really fun for me because I started my career as a creature designer some 20 years ago :) anyway, hope you enjoy these crazy critters!

This is a rough keyframe I did for my first Marvel Film I worked on. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1 . For this the goal was to show different humanoid aliens mingling with regular people in the space colony of nowhere. The nightlife of a space miner.

What kind of revisions are asked for on a project like this and how do you approach them? PS. Appreciate the inclusion of how much time it took to produce this piece. Creates a realistic expectation for those of us starting out vs. all those fancy time lapse paintings!

I am glad it was helpful ! This is a questions I notice that is asked a lot , so I started noting the time when I do some pieces. The funny thing is that its distracting to keep time on myself lol.. I dont know why ... but I would definitely say to the beginner artist to not worry so much with time in the beginning , just focus on a great concept and design first! and then your painting skills . It does not matter how long it takes. The part that you are practicing is the process of making decisions , changing what needs to be changed even though it hurts coz you spent so much time on it. I learned to train that muscle so I have no hesitation to redo my work when I need to to make it better or to change it for the client. And this happens often.

Transforming words from the script to clear images that helps the director and the producers visualize key moments in the film. This example is the final fight between Vision and White Vision I designed for the Disney Plus series Wanda Vision. An extra added difficulty for this assignment is that I also was designing the costume for white vision. This took me about 45 hours to finish, not including revisions.

That's a great idea !! Can't wait to explore the new channel !

Yes I do sculpt. I use Z-brush mostly to help with my concept art. Here are a few examples I did for Gears of War 4 , when I designed the final boss and a mini boss for the game. But I think the final design for the last boss changed a bit.

KeyFrame of Vision Vs White Vision that I did to help the production visualize the fight scene for Disney Plus Wanda Vision. In this Image I was also designing an option for White Vision's costume. Painted in photoshop and it took about one week or around 40 hours to complete
