In the demo, the instructor uses oil paints (primarily Russian brands), a prepared canvas, raw umber for the underpainting, a variety of brushes including wide and fan brushes, a palette knife, linseed oil mixed with mineral spirits to adjust the paint, as well as tools like masking tape and stencils, and even his fingers for blending.
