Box Men Explained
In this lesson, I show you a fun design exercise designed to help you make dynamic poses and forms using only boxes. Don’t feel the need to think inside the box when working on these box men-- this exercise is meant to flex your creative muscles!
Box Men Scenes
Now that you know how to sketch box men, let’s talk about how you can integrate them into scenes. Using this exercise, we can create “Tinkertoy” versions of complex scenes that can grow into rendered pieces later on.
Real Room from Memory
Drawing a room you’re familiar with from memory can be an immensely powerful tool to practice design. I explain the process and demonstrate with a drawing of my living room.
In this lesson, I’ll show you one of my favorite exercises. We’ll design abstract textures to practice creation of forms and values. This exercise is perfect for getting creative and discovering shapes and textures that work for you.
Emoji Based Expressions
This exercise uses emojis and your own facial expressions to create emotive sketches. This is excellent practice for sketching characters with varied identities and expressions.
