ASSIGNMENTS
I feel like its really hard to establish a cranium that works for all angles / FOV.
Establishing the brows line and length of the jar in relation to the circle / egg of the cranium just feels so inconsistent
Here’s my skull assignment. I was trying to stick to the construction techniques and not copy the skulls. I was unsure about the eye sockets among other things.
i had no idea how critical the bounding box was to get the perspective right. (definitely still a work in progress, though. My brain is averse to the nose breaking the planes of the face and anything from a low angle.) I drew some eyeballs in there for fun--I couldn't help myself.
okay, i did a bunch more skulls following the advice of the following video to get "comfortable" with the skull. (this was a recommended exercise for another proko video, so you can see the improvement when using the facely simplified skull model versus a real skull. real skulls are super confusing to me). In the big set of skulls, i forced myself to rely more on perspective versus going by shapes. With the perspective approach, I definitely struggled to place the back of the head--the rest i could map into something reasonable. i tried drawing through the shape to see how well i understood it (following the advice from the proko perspective course). I'm curious to see how my brain looks at faces after spending so much time on this.
Had fun with this one! Would appreciate any advice/critique, especially on how to make these look more solid
