Hey Steve! I am wondering if some of the old master uses filters and iterations subconsciously, where they don't realize themselves when they apply a new filter, or they choose this brushstroke or that marking, all without naming the idea they have. These ideas/filter sort of just came out of them naturally, reflecting their lives, themselves and the environment/society. Would you argue we should strive to bring this process to the consciousness; we should try to name the unconscious ideas we have about the world. Instead of saying oh this feels right, I feel like this putting this color here, we should name and ask why we feel like drawing like this. Hope I am making sense, thank you Steve!
LESSON NOTES
Through filters and iterations, I focus on structure and gesture, apply conscious curiosity, and simplify each step until it rings true.
