also I am convinced that there is an error in the video example. The left oval, let it be the hole of the ischium’s left side or the indentention for the leg bone - both wouldn’t be visible like that from this point of view. The 3d model confirms that.

Man, I can't wait to get to the thigh lesson to really dive into exactly how that trocanter fits into the acetabulum.

I had the same thought. It would be visible in the simplification but not in the real thing (or 3D model).
