LESSON NOTES

You've learned that the obliques shouldn't be drawn as just stripes across the figure. Now that you know the anatomical basics of the obliques, it's time to look at students' assignments and learn from their mistakes. Watch these oblique critiques to find out how you can improve drawing love handles!

View the lessons on the obliques below if you need a refresher or want to do the assignment.

At first it was kinda overwhelming with how the obliques integrate with the rib cage and the pelvis along with the twisting and stuff. But by trying it over and over and watching the critiques video, I can draw a lot smoother and quicker. Really appreciate that.
James Paris
This was pretty challenging, I'm not super proud of some of them ( 2nd picture ) , I think that I have a tendency to draw the obliques too long ?
James Paris
And part two of the assignement ! I still need to practice , some of them don't feel that great to me ( especially the 4th pose ) . I think I could push the twisting a bit more sometimes

#proko My attempt at the Oliques assignment using the robo-bean and anato-bean. Comments welcome.
Jesper Axelsson
Very nice! Just noticed that it starts a little low in the 1st and 4rth image on your first slide. Otherwise, really good job!

Here are my submissions for the beans and Skelly. Couldn't find the model photos.
Jesper Axelsson
Hi @Văn Hiếu Võ, really succesful studies! -Watch out for making the clavicular portion of the pecs to narrow - To give the drawings more readability, you can make the lines indicating the fibers of the pecs thinner than the lines separating the three sections I hope this was helpful :)

i cant find the 2nd and 3rd part of the assignment of the obliques, where are they hidding?
Johan Kurniawan
Me too, so I decided to use the model photos from the previous lessons, and for the skelly pose I use the images from the pecs assignment. I know this reply is super late but I hope anybody from the future who's wondering the same thing can just use the previous reference images since the part 2 and 3 is not provided

Hello, it's been a while since I update my assignment, here's my submission for oblique assignment. Any critique are welcome! :D
Stan Prokopenko
Audrey, you're doing a really good job... a few minor things I noticed: #6 The form of the obliques on the top left attaching to the rib cage is really thick. #12 You have the serratus as little triangles. Did you mean to cut them like that? They would extend all the way to the scapula. #14 The oblique groups at the top are really short.
