For my finished piece, I chose to go with my conceptual narrative assignment. For it's themes of decay and corrosion of environment and social relations, I chose 'The Dark Crystal: Age of resistance". I wanted the piece to be evocative of Brian Froud's original concept art for the show, so I decided to use watercolor and ink. The piece is 12 x 18 so that it can be easier to print at a smaller size. I don't often use ink together with watercolor, and I felt unsure of how much to paint vs how much to leave for later. I am satisfied with the result, and I will for sure put this in my portfolio.

I chose the Corroded theme for the final painting, choosing watercolour as the medium after watching Sterling’s demos and my not having much experience using this medium. I am using soda hinting at it’s harmful effects on health and using ‘corroded’ in the environment around the drink.

Here is my first finished piece from the The Glass Menageries. I already explained the background of the image previously so I will just shortly explain my technique. I am totally new working with mixed media, but its been really enjoyable so far. I first did a pencil drawing on board, worked over that with bleach titanium layers on layers, added ink and watercolor. Then I scanned it in and add more layers and colors in Photoshop. There is something cool in the rough value sketch that I lost, but I'm pretty pleased with the final painting. Any feedback is welcome!
