I am wondering if this is a good use of my iPad. I drew the boxes with the reference on the iMac before loading them into a separate layer and adjusting the size only to fit over the reference. This skill is primarily aimed to develop our ability to see, correct? I did not use the line straightener function. But I’m also wondering if incorporating that into future practice might accelerate iteration and reduce complexity so my eyes can focus more on construction without the variable of line inconsistency? Or is all of this grossly missing the point?

I find it helpful to do draw-overs like this if I'm having a hard time figuring out the orientation of the box. I do think it is easier to do a draw-over than it is to look at the image and orient the box on a page correctly, so I consider this a modification to the original lesson if one is having a difficult time figuring out the orientations outright. If you want the maximum challenge, do this step after instead of before completing the assignment to check your work!

I did the construction of the box with the photo on a separate screen prior to importing the photo on a lower layer, then adjusted the size and placement to check my work only using the corner nodes to keep the height and width ratio from changing. For transparency, these two were my most successful. I was concerned this approach missed the point and that drawing them in graphite would bring something to my practice that I wasn't seeing. I'm also hoping that using the straight lines function will accelerate iterations without loosing an important element of the assignment?
