If You Only Had an Hour a Day

If you only had an hour a day to learn how to draw, how would you structure your learning and practice?
Patrick Bosworth
If you only have an hour a day to learn to draw, I'd say start out with sketching from observation! Sketch objects around you from your daily routine, a coffee mug in the morning, or a pen you use for work every day, what you had for lunch. Start simple, keep it simple, and commit to the daily practice. You can sketch from art you love and try to draw it yourself, you'll start pick up cues from what that artist is doing, and when you go back to sketching objects around you can try to inject some of those cues you studied. Once you get a routine established you'll start to get an idea of where you should focus your learning. Here's a free video from the Basics course on how to establish a daily drawing routine, and see how others are getting started! Hope this helps, looking forward to seeing your progress! https://www.proko.com/course-lesson/2-week-drawing-challenge

That's a lot of great advice that I can start working on. I appreciate your time and response. I'll definitely check out the video. Thank you!

When I'm on the learning train ( I fall from it quite often) I'll typically spend my weekends gathering reference and familiarizing myself with whatever lesson/exercise that I want to complete so there is as little setup and barriers between me and drawing as possible.
