Hello, guys, I did this illustration for Marc Brunet's Croma Island and I am really happy with it but somehow it doesn't feel dynamic and the characters blend in with the background. Please help me. Constructive Criticism appreciated, thank you. Also which one of the 2 looks better, the normal one or the one with the lens flare

Hi @Atharva Lotake. In addition to the other comments, you say that they get lost in the background. Just try to get clear value arrangement first before go for more details and form. Any way, if you want to make it pop out, make a bigger difference between the general value of sky and trees in comparison to the figures. It is not necesary to do it in saturation. You will see that saturation and hue are under value when you want something to be the focal point. But obviously it matters to, don't get me wrong. Hope it helps. Keep up the work!

Both are looking very nice. But I will pick 1st one

This is really cool Atharva, nice job. What I did notice is that the three characters on the right all seem to occupy the same space. Also the character on the left doesn't match the perspective. I did a quick draw over to show you what I mean, hope it helps :)

nice. 👌😁 i love all the color that you used . that must of been a lot of work . but i think that it was totally worth it so great job . and sorry i dont have really any useful criticism. 😅 but i do think that the one on the right looks better it looks more finished. im my option . would love to see more art though so keep it up. i cant wait to see whats next. ✌😉

That's a nice work Atharva. I like the shadow work on the green guys!:) I am not the fan of the lens flare tbh. It looks like it's coming from the sun but judging by the shadows the sun is on the left behind the camera. I don't have much experience with making very dynamic compositions but maybe try to draw the characters mid action instead of just posturing before the fight? It's already a very nice illustration tho, good job!:)

Yeah, exactly. The lens' effect gives an extrange feeling by beeing the light source where it can't produce it,if we observe more realistic circumstances...
