Here's my first, second, and fourth attempt at the pear drawing. Last one is from the alternate reference picture.
I almost feel like the second one I did was the best, did I regress on the third image? Lol.
PS I borrowed the background rectangle idea in image three from somebody's work in the critique video.
Usually in classic academic drawing the darkest part of the shadow is on the terminator, which is the line separating light from shadow. I would expect reflected light where your darkest area is and the cast shadow to then be darker again.
Take my criticism with a grain of salt though, because neither did I see the reference image nor do I know the exact exercise you were doing.

Your update looks great! If you take the second pear out of the equation, there's noticeable progress between the first and fourth pear drawing. Your improvement will never be linear, there will be ups and downs. It can become a bit soul crushing to try to gauge your progress with such a small sample size. Be kind to yourself and trust the process :)
