Basic Question on Figure Drawing
2yr
Michael Murawski
I am new to figure drawing. I don’t currently have access to live models to draw. Based on what resources I have, I am thinking that I should practice figure drawing techniques using photographs of models. Later, perhaps years from now, I will draw live models when they become available to me. Does this sound like a reasonable approach?

I guess you have friends and family, and yourself, who can pose non-nude? You can make fun, by asking them do dress up in special costumes...

Hello Michael! Just use what you have and keep drawing. Using photographs are great but I would also incorporate drawing by not using photographs. Rather that be landscapes or still life’s, etc. Even if you do not have a model you may draw people as they are everyday and hone your observation skills. Though that may be intimidating and frustrating starting out. Being new it would be best to start with learning to pose a simple stick figure and progressively add more as you progress. Working from still life and learning basic shapes would be very beneficial.
