animal anatomy

Hi. I am really interested in learning how to draw animals. Is there a course available that can teach beginner or intermediate level students about anatomy or figure construction for animals? Thanks

Hey, Jen! Take a look at Aaron Blaise's channel, he has great tutorials on simplifying animal designs. Also check out the book "The Art of Animal Drawing: Construction, Action Analysis, Caricature" by Ken Hultgren. It's a great resource for learning how to draw the basic forms of many different animals. That said, the Basics course is all about how to simplify what we see into basic shapes and forms, which is the foundation for drawing anything you want! So definitely check out some of the animal lessons in Basics to start! Hope this helps! https://www.youtube.com/@AaronBlaiseArt https://www.proko.com/course-lesson/simplifying-shape-design-livestream

Thank you for such a thoughtful and helpful response. I have looked at the course Mr. Blaise offers here, but it is far too advanced; I am a beginner. That might be for future me, but right now, I am taking multiple courses here, while also doing my own studies of different animals and flora. I have been taking a gesture course and figure construction course with S.M. Hampton. And, I wanted to see if I could apply those lessons to animals. And, to a degree, I can, but I feel like I am missing out on the perspective of other experts' knowledge and skills. I have taken Stan's basics course and have gone back to redo certain lessons (such as the one you posted here). That book looks pretty amazing and, thanks to you, I found the online course Aaron Blaise recently created. So, I am going to start with these two resources and see where they take me. Thank you again for sharing! Jen
