I struggled simplifying the values in this, tried using hard edges but ended up having some soft ones. Any critique is welcome and appreciated. I tried the pear before, this advanced assignment took effort to tackle.

I tried doodling w pencils mixed w markers didn’t like it, tried a bunch of things didn’t like the texture of the paper, so I’m gonna use the BACK of the paper which i less textured. Sharpened a bunch of pencils , cleaned erasers.

Hello everyone!
I'm so excited to start this course as I have always wanted to improve my art skills but just never understood how, or where to begin. I always have so many thoughts of character designs in my head, but I'm never able to get them on paper because of my lack of knowledge on these fundamentals. Hopefully this course will help improve my skills, I'm so excited to see where this course takes me and good luck to all of you!

Comparing "Loomis Method Real Time Demo" to "3D Model: The Loomis Head" there would seem to be a difference. In the demo the a line goes from chin to the centre of the ear plane, whereas in the 3D model the same line goes to the end of the brow line. Is this a choice, is one preferred?

Dear Nigel, I think this is a Reilly rythm used in the loomis method. Imagine the face as a plate that stems from the cranial mass, the rythm you notice that turns towards the ear plane actually suggests the division of planes on the face. For more reference youtube Reilly method for the face.
